Awesome, my favorite build type. Actually....I'll just go ahead and start a new playthrough, get Great Stars (or maybe Beastclaw Greathammer?) and Icon Shield and faith it up to smash the Lands Between bosses, then head to the DLC to upgrade to this gear config. Great stuff!
With great stars and shield (and armor ofc looks sick af) would this be a good build for bosses? Im having trouble with bosses, and shielding it instead of dodging seems more appealing. This build slaps the world enemies, but bosses? That's what I'm worried about.
The build that i used to finish the base game was a similar one. Check one of my latest videos its called : "Elden Ring - Strength Build for DLC. Poise DESTROYER!".
Use the shield to deflect an attack and as soon you block it attack with the Strong Attack, you should hear a special sound that tells you you did a Guard Counter.
Man i beat her first try under 30 seconds with this build, it was literally the easiest boss in the whole game so far for me with this weapon .. Lvl 160 and 2 scadu blessings so i was propably overscaled for her but still. You don't even need to know her moveset, just guardcounter, i think 2 guardcounter + maybe 1 or 2 light attacks were enough for a stagger :D

As soon as the attack hits your Shield , press the right trigger (R2), or your equivalent for a Heavy attack.If done correctly, you will hear a sound play as your character counterattacks the enemy doing great damage to HP and Poise
So u made a build pretty much that doesn't work . Got it been stuck on Maliketh for 2 and half hours 💀 I mean if you're gonna make Elden Ring content atleast make it useful running out of money? I understand that fully

Same here and I have the shield with the holy ground ash of war on it and I feel like a tank
If you choose the Hero starting class you can get the same stat at lvl 148 and you can put the extra 2 points to Faith.
Solid build man, I’m going to give the hammer a second look. I’m running a strength faith build on one toon already.

I tried dual great stars and they are gooooood
I used a very similar build to this with great results, I however used the Greatshield talisman and the Erdtree Favor +2.

Shields are very good against bosses you can even tank the last boss in the dlc if you got a good enough shield

Any other great hammer should work. I'd go with either the Great Mace or Great Stars.
i love this build but i used the whole malekith set along with the black knight helm
The Malekith is a sweet armor... the helm was always over the top..lol
